VDE Düsseldorf District Association commends D UAS students

(sf) The Düsseldorf District Association of Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik e.V. (VDE) again awarded prizes to students at the Faculty of Electro-technology at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences this year for their outstanding study work. During the annual alumni meeting in the foyer of the extension building on 10th October 2009, VDE-Düsseldorf board member Peter Aymanns awarded the prizes, each worth Euro 500, to the committed Bachelor graduates Timo Bolse and Manfred Döhmen.

Both finished their studies within the regular study time with an average mark of 1.4 and even received a straight 1.0 for their Bachelor theses. 24-year old Timo undertook his practical project in Silicon Valley in California and wrote his thesis there in VW's Electronics Research Laboratory. He is now studying for a Master's degree in economic engineering at Hamburg University. Manfred's thesis was titled "Analysis and implementation of drive systems for automating continuous casting plants" – these being systems which bring liquid steel into solid form. The 27-year old now studies at D UAS on a Master course.

Peter Aymanns, VDE director and head of the network control office of the Stadtwerke Düsseldorf utility, graduated in engineering at the Faculty of Electro-technology at Düsseldorf UAS back in 1995. He praised the outstanding study work and achievements of the award winners. "I hope you will be able to successfully apply what you have learned here in your careers. Studying at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences provides the optimum means to do so", said the alumnus.
