Successful practical project: Students redesign the multimedia marketing of Avec Plaisir
(sf) Düsseldorf students discovered their enthusiasm for the wine industry and put forward a concept for the multimedia marketing of Avec Plaisir, a wine merchant in Duisburg. Fourteen students on the Bachelor course "Communication and Multimedia management" at the Department of Business Studies presented their results to the company's general manager, Axel Gesser, in October. These were produced in a number of work groups during the Summer semester 2009 led by the head of course, Prof. Dr. Sven Pagel.
Jorge Nogueira had worked in the Web-TV Group and visualised the enthusiasm for wine as a cultural good in the form of anecdotes. "Avec Plaisir's promotional films are to be characterised in future not by profound knowledge of wine, but rather emotional wine experiences", is how the 28-year old explained the students' ideas. Among other places, the films can viewed on video portals such as YouTube. Birgit Schejok can also envisage further collaboration with the Web-savvy wine merchant. "We based our recommendation for the company's advertising fully on the personality of its likeable boss. Such authentic communication is ideal for online promotions".
The staff at Avec Plaisir will now implement the students' individual proposals successively over the coming months. And this real-world project helped the students at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences to get to know the working means and communication mechanisms of a sector in the foodstuffs trade which was quite unfamiliar to them before. New opportunities for the professional future are thus created. Axel Gesser was likewise very happy with the collaboration: "Working together with Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences turned out to be a win-win situation. The UAS is an important partner for companies in the region".
