New professor of informatics at the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering

(D UAS) The Rector of Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Krause, recently appointed a new professor for informatics at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering for the start of the winter semester 2009/2010. Prof. Dr. Roland Reichardt will lecture on modelling & simulation technology in particular.
Born in 1970, Prof. Reichardt first graduated in mechanical engineering at Siegen University before obtaining his doctorate at the Faculty of Simulation Technology and Informatics in 2005, likewise at Siegen University. He has worked there as a staff scientist in teaching, research and academic self-administration since 2002. After obtaining his doctorate, he undertook lecturing assignments at Düsseldorf UAS and at Niederrhein University and also assumed a deputy professorship at Siegen University.
He has won numerous prizes and awards, including the Medal of Honour from the German Army. This was presented to him by the former Defence Minister, Rudolf Scharping, in 1999 for the development of a computer program to automatically make appointments to strategic positions. As well as numerous publications, he has furthermore been able to register four research patents through Siegen University.
Apart from his scientific and research activities, he worked as head of the software development department at Zoz GmbH in Wenden-Hünsborn from 1997 to 2001. He has been a member of the Executive Board there since 1999.
