Fortuna Düsseldorf presents a special gift of welcome to first year students at the Faculty of Business

Studying at Düsseldorf UAS is by no means just a matter of lecture theatres and libraries, tutorials and exams, placements and part-time jobs: Indeed, the regional capital has a whole lot more to offer with a multifarious range of cultural and leisure time activities. These complement the attractions of student life to be discovered beyond the campus and provide the perfect counter-balance to academic life. Düsseldorf also has plenty to offer from a sporting aspect, not least of these being the cult football club Fortuna Düsseldorf 1895.

The new students at the Department of Business Studies were treated to a special highlight during the official welcome to the first semester on 22nd September 2009: In order to welcome the freshmen to their new city of studies, the football club once again donated tickets for a game in Düsseldorf's Esprit Arena to the some 250 first year students. Paul Jäger, chief executive of Fortuna Düsseldorf for many years now, handed over tickets for the home tie against FSV Frankfurt on 18th October to the Dean of the Department, Prof. Dr. Horst Peters in the Aldi-Süd lecture theatre. "In view of the fact that a large proportion of our students don't come directly from Düsseldorf, but rather from outside the region, we're especially delighted with this gesture. It gives them the chance to get to know one of the sporting attractions of the city", declared Prof. Peters, and Paul Jäger added: "We want to welcome students at the University of Applied Sciences to the sporting city of Düsseldorf with our small gift."

The offer was greeted by the students with great enthusiasm - a clear signal for Fortuna and the UAS to continue their practised team play in future.

Ein schöner Auftakt zum Studienbeginn in Düsseldorf: Im Rahmen der offiziellen Erstsemester-Begrüßung überreichte Fortunas Geschäftsführer Paul Jäger dem Dekan des Fachbereichs, Prof. Dr. Horst Peters und den Studienbeginnern Ehrenkarten für die Meisterschaftspartie der Rot-Weißen gegen den FSV Frankfurt am 18. Oktober.
